Privacy Policy — Cadence Mining Apps
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how Cadence Technologies Inc. (“Cadence,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use the Cadence Mining Apps — our mobile applications for Cadence — Underground Mining FMS, comprising the Operator App (io.cadencemining.operator) and the Supervisor App (io.cadencemining.supervisor) (collectively, the “Apps”). The Operator App is intended for underground mine operators; the Supervisor App is intended for supervisors and other authorized mine personnel who oversee operations. Both run on company-provided devices (typically tablets) as part of your employer’s mining operations. Access typically requires login with credentials issued by your employer.
The Apps show operational information such as assigned tasks, shift schedules, equipment assignments, and related data; capture production-related information when work is recorded; operate offline where connectivity is limited (with data cached on the device); and sync to your mine’s Cadence server when a connection is available. Devices are commonly managed through your employer’s mobile device management (MDM) program.
Cadence Technologies Inc. is located in Port Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada. For privacy inquiries, see Contact below.
2. Information We Collect
Depending on how your employer configures the Apps and your mine’s systems, we may process:
- Account and authentication information — identifiers and credentials your employer provides so you can sign in (for example, username or employee identifier).
- Operational and task data — assigned tasks, shift schedules, equipment assignments, task completion records, production logs, and similar information needed to run mine operations.
- Photos from your device camera — when you use features in the Operator App that capture equipment inspection photos during shift check-in (see Camera permission below).
- Location information — where enabled for your deployment, device location or positioning-related data may be used for equipment tracking or operational purposes underground or on site (scope depends on your employer’s configuration).
- Device and technical information — such as device identifiers, app version, connectivity status, and diagnostic logs that help your employer and Cadence operate and support the Apps securely.
- Usage and troubleshooting information — limited operational logs as needed to maintain reliability, security, and support.
The Apps are not intended for consumer personal use and do not knowingly collect personal information beyond what is needed for your employer’s legitimate mining operations and as described here.
3. How We Use Information
We use the information above to:
- Provide shift management, task assignment, and operational workflows;
- Support production reporting, KPIs, and operational visibility for authorized mine personnel;
- Maintain equipment inspection records where photo capture is used in the Operator App;
- Support safety and compliance processes as configured by your employer;
- Enable offline operation and synchronization with your employer’s Cadence server;
- Maintain security, troubleshoot issues, and improve reliability of the service.
4. Data Storage & Retention
- Local storage: Data may be cached on your device so the Apps work offline (offline-first behavior).
- Server storage: Data syncs to your mine’s Cadence server under your employer’s control. Retention periods follow your employer’s operational and contractual requirements.
- Removal: Local data from the Apps may be cleared through employer-directed actions such as device wipe, MDM unenrollment, or uninstall, according to your employer’s policies.
5. Data Sharing
- Operational data is available to authorized personnel at your mine (for example, supervision and management) as configured by your employer.
- We do not sell your personal information. We do not share operational data with unrelated third parties for their independent marketing.
- We may use service providers who assist us in hosting or operating our services, bound by confidentiality and appropriate safeguards.
- We may disclose information if required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or integrity of users, the public, or Cadence.
6. Camera Permission
android.permission.CAMERA is used in the Operator App for equipment inspection photos during shift check-in, where your employer has enabled that workflow. It is not used in the Supervisor App for this purpose. Photos are used for operational and inspection records and are stored in line with your mine’s systems—not for advertising, unrelated profiling, or non-operational purposes.
If you do not wish to use camera features in the Operator App, contact your employer regarding alternatives or configuration; availability may depend on mine policy.
7. Other Android Permissions
The Apps may declare permissions including, as applicable:
- INTERNET — sync data with your employer’s Cadence server.
- ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE — detect connectivity for offline/online behavior and sync.
- RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED — allow background sync to resume after the device restarts.
- ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION / ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION — only if your deployment uses location or underground positioning features for equipment tracking (if applicable).
The exact permission list appears in each app’s Google Play listing and in that app’s manifest (AndroidManifest.xml) for your build.
8. Security
- Data is transmitted between the Apps and servers using encryption in transit (for example, HTTPS/TLS) where supported by your deployment.
- Company devices should follow your employer’s security standards, including device encryption at rest where required (for example, Android Enterprise).
- MDM may enforce policies such as screen lock, remote wipe, and app distribution.
